Yoga and running share more in common than you may think. Both require great discipline. Both can be meditative and provide reprieve from the stresses of daily life. Yoga helps to keep the body strong and supple, focus the mind, and increase lung capacity. Running is a great cardiovascular workout, however, it can be very hard on the body. A regular yoga practice can help provide runners relief from the impact and pounding. Yoga can help stretch and strengthen the runner's body and help create balance in the body and mind.
This workshop will focus on the physical and mental discipline required for running. We will discuss how yoga can support the maintenance of a healthy, injury-free body, and can help in recovery when injuries do occur. The workshop will teach breath technique to enhance the runners lung capacity, and participants will go home with a series of yoga poses they can incorporate into their pre- and post-run routines.
Whether you are a serious runner with little yoga experience, or an advanced yogi who is interested in starting a running practice, you will find this workshop informative, helpful, and fun!
